Many Jews – men and women, young and old – wrote during the Holocaust and documented what they have gone through. At the end of the war numerous writings – as letters, diaries, wartime memories, literature works and newspapers – were found, which hold a unique evidence of the essence Jewish life throughout the Second World War. This course will analyze the content and patterns characteristic to the Jewish writings of the Holocaust as well as on the Holocaust, while trying to follow its different dimensions and their importance to the Jewish insights of the Holocaust. We will also exercise the basics of academic writing and will strive to improve the skills of critical reading and analysis of historical sources.
