במרכז הקורס תעמוד שאלת האחדות והריבוי שבארון הספרים היהודי. על-מנת להתמודד עם שאלה זו יחשף התלמיד לתהליך היווצרותו של ארון הספרים החל מהקאנוניזציה של המקרא, עבור דרך ספרות חז"ל וכלה בהתפצלותו לסוגי ספרות שרב בה השונה מהדומה (פילוסופיה, הלכה וקבלה). השיעורים יתבססו על קריאה ביקורתית של מקורות אופיינים לספרות ההלכתית, קבלית והפילוסופית מהתנ"ך ועד העשורים הראשונים של המאה העשרים (תנ"ך, ספרות חז"ל, קבלה, כרוניקות, קבלה, הגות ימי הביניים והעת החדשה – מנדלסון, הרמן כהן, בובר; אחד העם, ברדיצ'בסקי, ברנר, ריינס, והרב קוק). אחד ממוקדי העיון במסגרת קריאת הטקסטים יהיה שאלת הייחודי והמשותף ליצירות הנדונות.

Jewish Creation - Historical Perspective
The question of unity and plurality in the Jewish Library is the central core of the course. In order to be able to confront this question the student will be exposed to the creating process of the Jewish Library from the canonization of the bible through the rabbinical literature till its fullness which contains diversity and contradictory sub-literatures. The main mean to deal the central question of this course will be a critical reading of characteristic sources from the whole Jewish library (Bible, Post-bible, Mishnaha and Talmud, Midrash, Halachah, Kabbalah and extracts from the writings of some eminent philosophers from medieval age till our age, such as Rozenzwig, Chohn, Buber, Kaplan, Gordon). One of the goals of this reading is to find (if there is) the uniqueness and the diversities of this wide library.
