This course focuses on major developments in Israeli history during its formative second decade. We will discuss the challenges faced by Israel’s policy makers with regard to security problems, economic achievements and failures, while examining certain key social issues. Additionally, we will address the political arena and touch briefly upon significant events which both reflect and define hegemonic culture and collective identity. The course aims at presenting the world views of the policy makers as well as those of ordinary citizens.
