This course reviews the development of Arabic literature since the mid-19th century to the present. The review focuses on three main genres, fiction, poetry and drama; Social and cultural factors that led to their renewal and acceptance; Trends, personalities, creations, and inter-literary influences which helped the formulation and accomplishment; And thematic and stylistic characteristics that accompanied that development.
