מורפולוגיה אותי בת-אל
הקורס מוקדש בעיקרו ליסודות המורפולוגיה הגנרטיבית הסטנדרטית ולסוגי השאלות המוצגות כאשר המחקר המורפולוגי עוסק במבנה המורפולוגי הנראה לעין.
נבחן את סוגי התהליכים/יחסים המורפולוגיים שיש בשפות, ונבהיר את המושגים "תהליך" ו"יחס" תוך התייחסות למבנה הלקסיקון ולתפקידו. נתייחס לנושאים קלאסיים במחקר מורפולוגי, כמו יחסים פרדיגמאטיים, פרודוקטיביות וחוסר סיסטמטיות, נטייה לעומת גזירה, ומורפולוגיה מבוססת-שורש לעומת מורפולוגיה מבוססת-מילה.
נתייחס לנתונים אמפיריים משפות שונות, עם דגש על שפות שמיות – אבן היסוד בחקר המורפולוגיה הפרוזודית והממשק בין מורפולוגיה לפונולוגיה. במסגרת זו נסקור גם תהליכים כמו הכפלה וקיצוץ והממשק בין פונולוגיה ומורפולוגיה ברכישת שפה והתפתחות היסטורית.
דרישות קדם: פונולוגיה מתקדמים (עם ציון 90 לתלמידי ב.א.)
חובות הקורס: נוכחות בשעורים, קריאת מאמרים ועבודה מקורית.

Morphology
Outi Bat-El
The course is devoted primarily to basic notions in traditional generative morphology and the type of questions addressed when the domain of morphology is viewed as an overt word structure.
We will observe the types of morphological process/relations languages employ, and clarify the notions of ‘process’ and ‘relation’ with respect to the function/structure of the lexicon. We will address traditional issues such as paradigmatic relations, productivity and irregularities, inflection vs. derivation, and word-based vs. morpheme-based morphology.
We will examine data from various unrelated languages, with special attention to Semitic languages – the corner stone in the study prosodic morphology and morphology-phonology interface. Within this domain, we will also examine processes such as reduplication and truncation, and the morphology-phonology interaction in language acquisition and historical change.
Prerequisites: Advanced Phonology (B.A. students with a grade of 90)
Course requirements: Class attendance, reading, and an original paper.
