תיאור הקורס:
הקורס הינו קורס המשך של סטטיסטיקה לבלשנים למתחילים. בקורס זה נעמיק את ההיכרות עם רעיונות וכלים בתחום הסטטיסטיקה ההיסקית. נתמקד במבחנים סטטיסטיים המתאימים לניתוח מערכי מחקר מרובי קבוצות ו/או משתנים ובכלים הבוחנים את הקשר בין משתנים. נלמד איך לבצע את הניתוחים השונים ב-EXCEL וב-SPSS ובנוסף נבין כיצד לתכנן מערך מחקרי מסודר ומובנה בבלשנות.
ההשתתפות בקורס זה מומלצת לכל סטודנט/ית לתואר ראשון או שני המתכננ/ת לערוך מחקר בלשני הדורש ניתוח כמותי-סטטיסטי.
מטרות הקורס:
א. להרחיב את הידע הסטטיסטי של הסטודנטים ולאפשר להם להעריך מאמרים בבלשנות המכילים ניתוחים סטטיסטיים מורכבים.
ב. להעניק לסטודנטים כלים וידע שבעזרתם יוכלו לתכנון ולבצע מחקר בלשני הכולל ניתוח סטטיסטי.

Advanced Statistics for Linguists
Spring Semester
Course description:
This course is a continuation of the introductory course in statistics. It will include further development of concepts and tools in the field of inferential statistics. We will focus on statistical tests for the analysis of studies with multiple groups and/or variables, and on tools which explore the relationship between variables. We will learn how to perform the different tests on EXCEL and SPSS and understand how to plan an experimental research in linguistics.
Participation in this course is highly recommended to any student who plans to conduct a quantitative research in linguistics.
Course objectives:
a. To further the statistical knowledge of students and enable them to evaluate papers in linguistics which contain complex statistical analyses.
b. To provide students tools and knowledge with which to plan and conduct a linguistic study that includes a statistical analysis.
