המטרה העיקרית של שיעור "קריאה מודרכת" היא מתן כלים לסטודנט לפתח את יכולתו להתמודד עם מאמרים בבלשנות. הסטודנטים קוראים את המאמר לפני השיעור ובכיתה מתקיים עליו דיון שיטתי וביקורתי שמתמקד באסטרטגיה של הצגת הדברים, סוגי הטיעונים במאמר, המבנה שלהם, אישושם האמפירי, חשיפת הנחות היסוד המובלעות ומאפיינים אחרים המייחדים כתיבה בלשנית-תיאורטית, כגון מעמדן המרכזי של דוגמאות ודוגמאות נגד באישוש והפרכת תיאוריות בלשניות. המטרה המרכזית אינה לימוד התיאוריות המוצגות במאמרים, אולם תוך כדי הקריאה והדיון בהם, נחשפים הסטודנטים למגוון רחב של ענפים בבלשנות. בבחירת המאמרים הושם דגש על תחומים שאינם נלמדים במסגרת קורסי החובה, כגון שפה ומוח, סוציובלשנות, רכישת שפה ועוד.
חומר הקריאה
חומר הקריאה הנדרש לקורס נמצא באתר הקורס (moodle.tau.ac.il). הסטודנטים יופנו לחומר הקריאה הרלוונטי בכל שיעור.
דרישות הקורס
הרכב הציון:
• בדיקת בקיאות – 20%
• מטלות – 20% (כוללות פרזנטציה וקבוצות דיון בכיתה)
• מבחן סיום – 60% (יש לקבל ציון עובר במבחן על מנת לעבור את הקורס)
דרישות כלליות:
• נוכחות חובה בכל השיעורים.
• על כל מאמר תתבצע בדיקת בקיאות. יש לקבל ציון עובר בלפחות 80% מבדיקות הבקיאות על מנת לעבור את הקורס.
• המבחן יכלול מאמר "אנסין" אותו יתבקשו הסטודנטים לנתח.
• השיעורים מבוססים על דיון במאמרים, בהשתתפות פעילה של הסטודנטים.
• יש לעקוב אחר ההודעות המתפרסמות באתר הקורס.
Course description
The purpose of “Guided Reading” is to provide students with tools to develop academic reading skills. The students are required to read an article before each lesson, and the article is then discussed and analyzed in class. Among the issues discussed are article structure, argumentation, empirical evidence, underlying assumptions and other characteristic features of theoretical linguistic writing. Although the main focus is not the study of the theories presented in the articles, the students are exposed to a variety of linguistic disciplines. Priority in article selection is given to fields that are not studied in mandatory courses, such as language & brain, sociolinguistics, language acquisition, among others.
Required reading material is provided in the course website (moodle.tau.ac.il). Students will be referred to the relevant reading material.
Course requirements
Grade:
• Proficiency assessment of assigned articles – 20%
• Assignments – 20% (Includes presentation and class discussion groups)
• Final Exam – 60% (Students must obtain a passing grade in exam in order to pass the course)
General requirements:
• Mandatory attendance
• Proficiency will be assessed for each article. Students must obtain a passing grade in 80% of assessments in order to pass the course
• The final exam will include an ‘unseen’ article (not discussed in class) which students will be asked to analyze
• Classes are based on active participation of students in discussions
