This lesson will be dedicated to links between interior, façade, and architecture. The definition of interior and façade in relation to one another, in their changing mutuality and hierarchy, is a major content, tool, and expression of architecture. The link between the encasing architectural exterior and the design of the interior space will be analyzed and interpreted in this multidisciplinary lesson as an expression of worldviews, as a text of identity, and as a tool that affects human life, society, and environment.

The lesson will discuss the criteria and the values – ideological and concrete, physical and metaphysical – embodied in this link, and will discuss its impacts on the architectural product: a structure, a complex, or a site.

The issue and its various implications will be discussed in part by visiting lecturers from the arts, humanities, natural sciences, environmental studies, and social studies, as a proposed dialog between research fields, creative languages, and cultures.
