The course will cover the connection between the human body and architecture, which is one of the central issues in western culture. Discussions will be held on the theory and practice of architecture as related to the human body, both as a morphological and structural model as well for deliberate or implied metaphorical values. The form of the human body, as well as concepts with cosmic implications, such as symmetry and proportion, will be studied in theory and practice in various periods for their style and emphasis. This static approach will be complimented by examining the dynamics of the movement of the human body throughout the three

dimensions of space. The course will be concerned with both the social obligation and design failures of architectural attempts to provide for the senses, activities and limitations of the human body.

This far-reaching and highly-charged subject will be discussed by guest lecturers, from the disciplines of the arts, humanities, social and exact sciences.
