Public Housing is the largest initiative project ever built in Israel. This immense project is being accepted today by many as naïve, out of date and ugly. An unsafe refuge and a symbol of state operation upon the most weakest population.

At the same time, Public Housing becomes an inseparable part of the Israeli built heritage and its main characteristic. Public Housing whether as a complex of buildings, or a single bloc, or the open spaces between the buildings – is the most eminent phenomenon in creating the Urban Cultural Landscape of the Israeli towns, since the '50s till today. It has been Home for most of the Israelis.

Today, there are different projects that are being planed to demolish the historical buildings and new gigantic towers are to replace them. (PINUII BINUII)

In order to solve the "problems" of the P.H., mainly  because of neglect and changes in the cultural and economical  perceptions and at the same time to keep the P.H. as still existing remainder of Israeli modern urbanization and local  build heritage that have endless possibilities and great potentials.

"We consider an historical environment  as any group of buildings and sites whose homogeneity and historical , aesthetic and picturesque qualities, are sufficient to justify preserving it and displaying it to advantage" (Rem Koolhaas).

The Conservation Studio will lead a research on the different tips of P.H. before 1948 and after the creation of the state of Israel.

Considering the P.H. as one of the most eminent characteristic of the Local Urban Landscape, The studio will engage in its conservation as one of the main tool motivation of Urban Renewal.
