D:\Inetpub\shared\yedion\syllabus\08\2015\0851\0851985901_desc.txt סילבוס מקוצר הסמינר יעסוק בהיסטוריה של הקולנוע והמדיה החדשה מתוך תפישת "הארכאולוגיה של המדיה". בשלושת העשורים האחרונים הארכאולוגיה של המדיה מהווה תחום מחקר מרכזי הבוחן מחדש את ההיסטוריה של הקולנוע ומציע גנאלוגיות אלטרנטיביות. הארכאולוגיה של המדיה ממקמת את הקולנוע בתוך היסטוריה רחבה יותר של יצירה וצריכה של דימויים. הפרספקטיבה הרחבה הזו מאפשרת הבנה מחודשת של היחסים עם המדיה החדשה. כך, תפישה זו מאפשרת לחמוק משתי אופוזיציות מוכרות- להבין את הקולנוע הדיגיטלי כשבר רדיקלי מן הקולנוע האנלוגי או לחלופין כהמשך טבעי שאין צורך לדרוש בו ולשאול אודותיו שאלות. הסמינר יעסוק בתשתית התיאורטית שמאפשרת חשיבה מחדש על ההיסטוריה של הקולנוע כמו גם נקודות מפגש חדשות בין ההיסטוריה של הקולנוע למדיה החדשה. Course description Media Archaeology has been a catchword in the fields of film studies and media studies for almost three decades now. My forthcoming book Film History as Media Archaeology – Tracking Digital Cinema covers general reflections and specific case studies written over a period of some twenty-five years, always keeping in the centre the cinema as an extraordinary mutable phenomenon, impossible to fix and yet firmly established in our culture and its imaginary for at least one hundred years. Rather than posing the question: “what is cinema”, media archaeology is as much concerned with “where is cinema”, “when is cinema”, and even asking “why is cinema”.
