"Cinematography 2" is a practical workshop intended for second year students.

 The work shop focuses on theoretical and practical aspects of filmmaking through the use of different photographic techniques and shooting strategies. For example: the use of lenses, colors, exploiting given filming locations, choosing shooting angles, lighting and camera movements.

 In the work shop we will discuss how to develop a visual language by using the tools that define the cinematic syntax. We will expand the students' visual skills and knowledge that will serve them when they will face the task of translating a script to screen.

 During the work shop emphasis will be put upon the transition from screenplay to shooting script. It will focus on understanding the importance of the visual interpretation and how it can expand on the written word. Furthermore, we will discuss the benefits of the use of storyboards as part of the process of defining the films visual language, lighting, editing and how it can help tighten the cooperation between the film's different artistic departments.

During the semester the students will practice building shooting scripts and filming them. The resulting scenes will be shown in the work shop and discussed.
