תיאור הקורס

במסגרת הקורס יילמדו הסגנונות העיקריים במוזיקה המערבית מסוף המאה התשע-עשרה ועד לסוף המאה העשרים דרך סקירה היסטורית, ניתוח יצירות והכרה לעומק של טכניקות הלחנה מרכזיות.

דרישות הקורס

• נוכחות בשיעורים
• קריאת מאמרים (באנגלית) כהכנה לדיון בכיתה
• מספר בחנים קצרים (אמריקאים) במהלך השנה, שיכללו זיהוי יצירות ושאלות בקיאות בחומר הקריאה. לבחנים אלה יהיה מועד אחד בלבד.
• בחינה בסוף כל סמסטר: הבחינה תכלול בעיקר שאלות אמריקאיות,  שיתייחסו לזיהוי יצירות, ניתוח קטע מוזיקלי ובקיאות בחומר הנלמד.

Course Description

A study of main musical styles in western music from end of the 19^th Century to the end of the 20^th Century through historical overview, analysis of musical works and an in-depth examination of central compositional techniques. 

Course Requirements

Class attendance

Reading of articles (in English) in preparation for class discussion

Several short American quizzes during the school-year, including identification of musical works and questions regarding the reading material. These quizzes will have one date only.

Several short hand-in tasks during the school-year, including analysis and study of reading materials

An American exam at the end of each semester, including a listening part, analysis, and knowledge of the material studied in class.

Grading Components

End exam first semester – 25%  

End exam second semester – 35%

Quizzes and Assignments during the semesters– 40%

A student who fails the second semester exam cannot get a passing grade in the course
