תיאור הקורס:

הקורס ״מוזיקולוגיות״ מציג את פניו המרובים והמשתנים של המחקר המוזיקולוגי העכשווי בעזרת סקירת תחומי העניין, שאלות היסוד ושיטות המחקר של ענפים מרכזיים בחקר המוזיקה היום. בצד גישות מסורתיות לחקר מוזיקה, כמו מוזיקולוגיה היסטורית, או תיאוריה וניתוח של מוזיקה מערבית, נציג גישות חדשניות שהתפתחו בעשורים האחרונים בהשפעת שדות ידע מגוונים (לדוגמה, מוזיקולוגיה והשיח הביקורתי, מוזיקולוגיה קוגניטיבית, אינפורמטיקה מוזיקאלית, חקר הביצוע המוזיקאלי), כמו גם תחומים שעברו משולי השוליים של השיח המוזיקולוגי אל מרכזו, כחקר המוזיקה הפופולארית.

החלק הראשון של הקורס (סמסטר א') יסקור כיווני מחקר מסורתיים וחדשים בתיאוריה וניתוח מוזיקאלי וכמה משדות המחקר האמפירי או הכמותני של מוזיקה. בין השאר, נעסוק במחקר הקוגניציה המוזיקאלית, מחקר אמפירי של ביצוע מוזיקאלי, ומחקרי קורפוס של סיגנון ותחביר מוזיקאלי.

 

Course Description:

This course presents the diverse, changing fields of current music research, surveying the topics of interest, research questions and methodologies of its central domains. Side by side with traditional music research domains, such as historical musicology or music theory and analysis, the course will present novel apporahces, developed in recent decades in rapport with diverse domains of scientific and humanistic inquiry. These include, for instance, the diverse domain of “new musicology,” inspired by contemporary critical discourse; music cognition and cognitive musicology, applying the research questions and methodologies of cognitive psychology to musical issues; and musical informatics, utilizing big data and advanced cpmputational methods to the study of music. We shall also survey current research of topics of interest which have moved from the margins of musicological inquiry to its center, such as popular music studies or studies of music performance.

The first part of the course (1st semester) presents traditional and current research methods in music theory and analysis, as well as some domains of empirical or quantitative music research, including music cognition, music performance research, and musical corpus studies.

Course requirements: Active participation in classes, reading and writing assignments, final examination.

 

דרישות קדם או תנאי קבלה לשיעור: קורס חובה לתלמידי המגמה למוזיקולוגיה (שנה ב'). תלמידים אחרים יתקבלו באישור המרצה.

 

Enrollment requirements: Core requirement for musiclogy students (2nd year). Enrollment of other students requires lecturer’s approval.

 

מרכיבי הציון הסופי: מבחן – 70%; עבודות בית – 30%.

 

Grading: Final Exam – 70%; Home assignments – 30%.
