תיאור כללי של הקורס

שיעור העוסק בניתוח יצירות מתקופות שונות תוך שימת דגש על  מציאת קונספציה ואידיאה בסיסית ומימושה על ידי המלחין בדוגמא הנבחרת. בשיעור יהיה דגש מסוים -אם כי לא בלעדי- על רפרטואר מאוחר ואף עכשווי אך הגישה היא לא היסטורית וניבים מוסיקליים נלמדים כאמצעי מימוש של המלחין ולא כמטרות בפני עצמן. על פי הנלמד מתבקשים התלמידים  מדי כמה שעורים לחבר יצירה הקשורה  לאחת  או יותר מן הדוגמאות הנלמדות בשיעור, במטרה ליישם תהליך או מושג הקשור בה או מאפיינים בתוכנה המוזיקאלי.

מטרת הקורס

לחבר את התלמידים לתהליכי יצירה של מלחינים ולהבין את המוטיבציות ההבעתיות

ואופן הבאתן לידי ביטוי על ידי היוצרים.

מהלך הקורס/דרישות הקורס

נוכחות חובה. בכל שיעור תידון יצירה או פרק באמצעות ניתוח הטקסט  המוזיקאלי. יעשה עיון בעבודות אשר יכינו התלמידים על פי המודלים הנלמדים כפי שהתבקשו על ידי המרצה.

מטלות סיום קורס

עבודת הלחנה יותר גדולה אשר את הגדרתה ימסור המרצה לקראת סיום השנה.

שקלול ציון גמר

40% - השתתפות בשעורים והגשת עבודות בית

60% - עבודה סופית

Course description:

The course is intended for Composition and Conducting students.

The course combines the analytical discipline with few compositional exercises assigned to the students. During the course a wide array of works from different times and styles is studied and analyzed in class. The level of theoretical knowledge required in this course is high and it puts some emphasis (event though not exclusively) on music close to our days. Students are assigned compositional exercises which are presented and discussed in the class.

Course Grade:

Weekly Assignments' Submission – 40 %

Final Assignment – 60%

Course Requirements:

Class attendance and active participation in classes (no more than 5 absences a year allowed), submission of weekly assignments, final assignment.

Meetings:

1-2  A. Scriabin – Préludes op. 74, I-II

       Assignment: to compose a short piece which creates the idea of being a part

       of a big endless continuum

3–7 – B. Bartok – 14 Bagatelles op. 6

          Each student is assigned one or two pieces and presents them on class

8-9 – A. von Webern – Fourth Piece from  5 Pieces Op. 5 for String Quartet

10 – A. Schoenberg – Piano Pieces op. 19, II and VI

11-13 – B. Britten – Nocturnal op. 70 after J. Dowland

             Each student is assigned one or two variations and presents them on class.

14 – P. Boulez – Dérive I

2^nd. Semester

15- 16  Presentation and discussion of assignments brought to class by students

17 - Luigi Nono – "Dónde estás hermano" for female voices a cappella

18- 20 -  G. Kurtág – 20 Microludes for String Quartet

            Assignment: write a piece for string quartet after this model

21 – Morton Feldman – For Samuel Beckett

22 -23 -  Giacinto Scelsi – Quarteto per archi no 4

24 – G. Ligeti – Piano Concerto (II mvt.)

25-  Tristan Murail – Treize couleurs du soleil couchant

26 –  C. Ives -Fourth Symphony (mvt. IV)

27-28 - Presentation and discussion of assignments brought to class by students

Expected learning outcomes

It is expected that the students get acquainted with the particularities of the composers and the works studied. One of the goals of the course is to put the students in a relevant context of confrontation with the problems of music today and to recognize their ex-temporality.
