תיאור כללי של הקורס

הקורס מחולק לשניים: בסמסטר הראשון על הסטודנט ללמוד  מספר חוקים בסיסים בצרפתית ולפתח שליטה בסימנים הפונטיים ועל הצלילים המתאימים כדי לפתח יכולת לתרגם כל קטע ספרותי או כל שיר לסימנים הנכונים, ולקרוא אותם בצורה נכונה, (חלק תיאורטי).

בסמסטר השני, אחרי העבודה הבסיסית, כל תלמיד יבחר 12 שירים בצרפתית ויעבוד באופן אישי. בסוף השנה כל סטודנט יקבל חוברת והקלטה של כל השירים שנלמדו במשך השנה, (חלק פרקטי).

מטרות הקורס

פיתוח שליטה פונטיקה, ללמוד לקרוא, להגות ולשיר ללא שגיאות קטע ספרותי או שיר בצרפתית.

מבחן בסמסטר א': תיאוריה עם חומר פתוח.

מבחן בסמסטר ב': מבחן בעל פה על שירים אישיים.

Syllabus

The French diction lecture is divided in two parts. In the first semester, the symbols of French phonetic will be studied together with a few rules of grammar; the correct pronunciation of the sounds will also be studied. We will also work on a few songs chosen by the teacher. In the second semester, each student will select 12 songs to phonetically translate, read and sing.

Course description

The course will introduce the fundamentals of French diction for singers and choral conductors. Studies will be held in small groups of 8-10 students. Study of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) will be incorporated into the course.

The course is divided in two parts: in the first semester, symbols of the French phonetics will be studies and basic rules of grammar and pronunciation will be addressed. In the second semester, each student will select 12 songs to be phonetically translated, read and sung.

Course Requirements

Full attendance and active participation in classes, individual work, two exams.

Course grade for French diction I

Semester I – class exam – 30%

Semester II - oral exam – 50%

Homework and active class participation – 20%

Course topics

1. Introduction, Alphabet, syllabes, accents
2. Basic French phonetics
3. Advanced French phonetics
4. Warming up. Exercises

1. Work on the accents and their consequences. Beginning to work with French songs

1. Grammar verbs and nouns.
2. Grammar plural and links
3. Work on the phonemes. Warming-up and practical exercises.
4. Work on rhythm (breathing, punctuation, intonation, and tempo) links to the types of sentences.
5. French grammar rules: capital letters, small letters, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, exceptions.
6. Differences between French, German, Italian and English sounds.
7. Difference between reading and singing.
8. Student's presentations of selected songs.
