Course description

This course provides a general introduction to the work of an orchestral conductor and the basic skills required, and is meant as an elective for students of music performance. Addressing various issues of basic conducting technique (upbeat, conducting figures, entry cues etc.), the course will also deal with preparing and marking the score for rehearsals as well as some basics of rehearsing technique. Selected works of the canonic symphonic repertory will be studied and prepared throughout the course.

קורס זה מעניק מושג כללי ומיומנות בסיסית בניצוח על תזמורת ומיועד כקורס בחירה לתלמידי ביצוע. לצד הקניית יסודות טכניקת הניצוח (קדמה, פיגורות ניצוח, מתן כניסות וכד'), הקורס  יעסוק באופן הכנת הפרטיטורה וסימונה לקראת עבודה עם תזמורת, מושגי יסוד בניהול חזרה וכד'. במהלך הקורס יוכרו ויוכנו מבחר יצירות של הרפרטואר התזמורתי הקנוני.

Requirements

Regular attendance, active class participation, preparation of regular conducting and score reading exercises as required, final practical examination testing conducting faculty and basic knowledge of orchestral scores. A baton is required for the course.

דרישות הקורס

נוכחות בשיעורים, השתתפות פעילה בכיתה, הכנת תרגילי ניצוח ופרטיטורות משיעור לשיעור כנדרש, עמידה במבחן שנתי מעשי בו תידרש יכולת ניצוח והיכרות עם פרטיטורות תזמורתיות ברמה בסיסית. יש לרכוש מקל ניצוח עבור הקורס.

Grades

The final grade will be calculated: 50% final practical examination, 50% preparation of regular conducting and score reading exercises and active class participation.

50% בחינת גמר מעשית, 50% הכנת תרגילים שוטפת והשתתפות פעילה בכיתה.

Practical examination

The final practical examination will involve: conducting a prepared orchestral work (with piano), command of conducting technique basics and knowledge of the score.

בחינה

המבחן השנתי המעשי יכלול ניצוח על יצירה תזמורתית שהוכנה מראש (מול פסנתר), שליטה ביסודות טכניקת הניצוח והכרת הפרטיטורה.

נושאי הקורס ומבנהו (נתון לשינויים)

טכניקת ניצוח בסיסית (יציבת הניצוח, אחיזת מקל הניצוח, הקדמה, סכמות הניצוח עבור המשקלים השונים, מתן כניסות, היכרות עם סדרי ישיבה סטנדרטיים של התזמורת, סימון סיומים, סימון דינאמיקה ופראזות), היכרות עם מבנה הפרטיטורה (לרבות טרנספוזיציות ומפתחות), יסודות הכנת הרפרטואר וסימון פרטיטורה לקראת עבודה עם תזמורת, הבנת תהליך העבודה, הקניית הרגלים בסיסיים בניצוח ואינטראקציה בין המנצח לתזמורת, בכפוף לקצב ההתקדמות: חילופי משקל וניצוח על משקלים באורכי פעמה משתנים. בקורס מעשי זה תמלא העבודה הפעילה בכיתה תפקיד מרכזי. הסטודנטים יידרשו להכין ולנצח בכיתה על יצירות נבחרות מתוך הרפרטואר לתזמורת.

מטרות הלמידה

הסטודנטים יירכשו הבנה בסיסית במיומנויותיו של מנצח התזמורת באופן שיתמוך בתפקודם כנגני תזמורת וכמבצעים עם תזמורת ויאפשר להם להתמודד בהצלחה עם מטלות ניצוח בסיסיות. יושם דגש על הטמעת ארגז כלים בסיסי וחיוני (יציבה, טכניקת ניצוח, מתודות ללימוד יצירות וטכניקת חזרות בסיסית).
