סילבוס

זמרי המקהלה ילמדו ויבצעו יצירות ממיטב הרפרטואר האמנותי מכל התקופות. במהלך החזרות יושם דגש על שירת אנסמבל ותתורגלנה מיומנויות מוזיקליות כגון: עבודה מוזיקלית עם מנצח, מיומנויות קוליות בסיסיות, בניית פרזה, הגייה אמנותית ותיאום בין הקולות. על מנת ליעל את העבודה בחזרות יקבע לוח זמנים לאודיציות על שליטה בתפקידים. האודיציות יתבצעו ברביעיות קוליות ויהוו תנאי להשתתפות בקורס. תלמידים אשר לא ישלטו בחומר (רמת דיוק גבוהה הן בתווים והן בטקסט) לא יוכלו להמשיך להשתתף במקהלה.

Syllabus

Students in the choir will learn and perform works from all musical eras. Special skills will be developed during the rehearsals: artistic pronunciation, working with conductor, basic vocal techniques, phrasing and singing different styles. For the purpose of having efficient rehearsals a schedule for auditions on the choral parts will be given in advance. The auditions in vocal quartets will be a prime requisite to participate in the choir. Students who will fail to sing accurately the choral parts (music and text) will not be able to continue their participation in the choir.

Course description

The oratorio choir aims to provide students with basic skills of choral singing.

Students will learn and perform canonical works from a diversity of music eras and genres.

The course is held as a three-hour weekly rehearsal and is mandatory for two to three years for all performance students who are not in the orchestra, together with composition students. Choral conducting students serve as assistant's conductor and conduct the choir as an integral part of their studies.

Auditions in quartets, exams and individual preparation of the repertoire – 50%

Full attendance and active participation in all rehearsals and concerts – 25%

Personal professional conduct in rehearsals and concerts – 25%

Expected learning outcomes:

Students will acquire basic knowledge and skills in choral singing.

Students will be introduced to voice color matching, vocal intonation and phrasing.

Students will become closely familiar with leading choral works of different styles and eras, and will be actively involved in the process of their interpretation and performance.

Students will enhance their skills of working with a conductor, collaborating in a large artistic ensemble and refine their sense of breathing and phrasing (to be later implemented in their own major field of study).

Choral conducting students will gain practical experience in conducting a semi-professional choir and take an active part of the process in preparing it towards its public performances.
