Writing about Art requires delicacy as we use verbal language to refer to a visual language. While exhibition texts are read by an audience enjoying unmediated contact with the Artworks, we often seek to convey impressions and opinions of an artwork or exhibition to readers who cannot see the works in situ, and will, at best, see details of the artwork or exhibition at point. 

       Various genres of writing will be examined: we will familiarize ourselves with wall texts, Art criticism and catalog articles in print and digital media (websites, blogs, and more). The class will explore the challenges within writing about Art, as well as the creative satisfaction and sense of mission involved. We will review selected writings from the 20^th century and contemporary examples from the international and Israeli art arenas.

·         The program includes visits to museums and galleries, which will become the basis of writing assignments.
