בקורס נדון בסוגיות נבחרות באמנות שהתפתחה במהלך משבר האמונה העמוק שפקד את הכנסיה החל מהמאה ה – 15 ומלחמות הדת באירופה במאה ה – 16. עלילות והסתות נגד קבוצות מיעוט ונגד חריגים – יהודים, מינים, מצורעים, מכשפים ומכשפות היו ביטוי של מתחים חברתיים – דתיים במרחב הקתולי והפרוטסטנטי באירופה. נדון בתופעות ובביטויים הויזואליים שלהן.
The course will examine selected topics in Renaissance art created in periods of Christian faith crisis and religious wars during the 16th century. Against a backdrop of rapid social, economic, and religious transformation in Catholic and Protestant areas, Persecutions and blood accusation of Jews and Witch-hunts took place. The course will examine art as a tool for social and political propaganda.
