The seminar series will explore sound as an artistic practice often focused on the marginal and the excluded. Specifically, this will lead to investigating how sound functions as a platform for practices of social engagement, and for expanding relations toward unlikely places and with diverse communities. From abandoned buildings and found objects to inhuman voices and energies from below or within, practices of sound steer us toward experimental forms of belonging.

What occurs if we place sound and listening at the center of our creative and critical thinking? What happens to the body when we listen, and what types of spaces materialize if we construct them in sound? Can we imagine a sonic city, or a social structure formed around acts of listening? Following such questions, the series will highlight sound as a means for enriching the complexity of what it means to live together.
