דרישות הקורס וחובות התלמידים:

נוכחות חובה בכל המפגשים שייערכו במוזיאון ישראל  (ארבעה שיעורים כפולים, תאריכים מפורטים מטה).

קריאת ספרות לפני השיעור כפי שיפורסם ברשימת הקריאה.

הצגת רפרט בכיתה (כעשרים דקות) על נושא שיוחלט יחד עם המרצה ובאישורה. נושאי הרפרט ייקבעו בשיעור הרביעי ויוצגו במהלך הסמסטר בשילוב עם נושאי השיעור. רפרטים שלא ישולבו בשיעורים יוצגו בשיעור האחרון.

מטלת סוף קורס: עבודה בכתב או פרויקט בנושא שיאושר ע״י המרצה, רצוי הקשור לנושא הרפרט, אך אינו חייב להיות.

מרכיבי הציון הסופי:% 20 הצגת רפרט בכיתה, % 80 עבודה/פרויקט סוף קורס.

דרישת קדם: הסדנה מיועדת לתלמידים מצטיינים בשנה ג׳.

הסטודנטים יתלוו לאוצרת במסעה להפיכת אוסף אקלקטי של חפצים ממצרים העתיקה לתערוכה נושאית ומונגשת לקהל. נדון בשלבי בניית התערוכה החל מגיבוש הרעיון, הגדרת הפרקים הנושאיים, בחירת המוצגים, אופן ההצגה, שיקולי שימור ושחזור, הפקת חומרי עזר ושילוב אמצעי הנגשה.

בין הנושאים הכלליים שייבחנו במהלך הקורס: אפיונו של האוסף הארכיאולוגי לעומת אוספים אחרים, גישות שונות להצגת אוספים ארכיאולוגיים בארץ ובעולם, ביקורת תערוכות בנושאים ארכיאולוגיים, שכבות מידע בתערוכה והנגשת מידע לציבור.

בין הנושאים הפרטניים שיילמדו: סקירה היסטורית של תרבות מצרים העתיקה וביטוייה באמנות המצרית, טיבו של כתב החרטומים המצרי ושימושיו בתקשורת, בפולחן ובאמנות, סדרות פיקטוגרפיות בתקשורת החזותית העכשווית: אייקונים ואימוג׳י.

הסטודנטים מוזמנים לקחת חלק בתהליך היצירתי ולהגיש פרויקטים בנושאי התערוכה בתחומי העיצוב, ההנגשה או התיעוד.

From Artifact to Exhibition: Hieroglyphs from the Pyramids to Cyberspace

The students will accompany the curator on her journey to transform an eclectic collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts into a thematic and accessible exhibition. We will explore the different phases of preparations including: the initial concept and the definition of the various themes; the choice of artifacts; the method of presentation; various considerations of conservation and restoration; production of accessory materials; and the integration of multi-media mediation to improve public accessibility.

General discussions will include: characterization of archaeological collections, different approaches to archaeological displays, critical analysis of archaeological exhibitions, information layers and public accessibility to deeper exhibition strata.

Specific discussions will include: historical survey of ancient Egyptian art and culture, hieroglyphic script and its employment in communications, cult and art, pictographic sets in contemporary visual media: icons and emojis.

Students are encouraged to participate in the creative process and submit exhibition-related projects in design, accessibility, and documentation.
