תאור הקורס
הקורס יבחן את הסביבה הבנויה – אדריכלות, תכנון ערים, ואמנות במרחב הציבורי – כייצוגים של כוח פוליטי ואידיאולוגיה. הדימויים הוויזואליים המוטמעים בסביבה הבנויה שלנו רוויים בסימבוליזם ומשמעות, גלויה וסמויה. דימויים אלו משמשים להעברת מסרים המבנים ומעצבים את האידיאולוגיה של השלטון, האדם, או הקבוצה, האחראים לבנייתם. במהלך הקורס נבחן מושגים כמו "אידאולוגיה", "שלטון", ו"פוליטיקה"; נלמד לנתח ולחשוף מסרים מוטמעים בבנייני ציבור, תכניות בנייה, אנדרטאות, ופסלי חוצות תוך סקירה של מבנים ויצירות מהתקופה העתיקה ועד ימינו. הסקירה לא תהיה כרונולוגית אלא תמטית כך שהתלמידים יוכלו לפתח גישה ביקורתית לניתוח היצירות ולמשמעותן החברתית והתרבותית.
Course description
תאור הקורס באנגלית
This course will examine our built environment – architecture, city planning, and art in the public sphere – as representations of ideology and political power. The visual images that are embedded in our built surroundings are imbued with overt and latent symbolic content. These images convey messages that construct and form the ideology of the ruler, political group, or person responsible for their creation. Throughout the course we will examine terms such as "ideology", "government", and "politics"; and learn how to analyze and reveal symbolic messages embedded in public buildings, urban plans, monuments, and public sculpture from antiquity till present day. The survey of structures will be thematic rather than chronological and students will be able to develop a critical approach to analyze these images within their cultural and social timeframe.

20% הגשת רפרט בכיתה, %80 עבודה מסכמת
פירוט נושאי הקורס
שבוע 1– הצגת הנושא, הדרישות והחומר הביבליוגרפי. מהי אידיאולוגיה?
שבוע 2 – בנייה בשירות האל: מקדשים, בתי כנסת, כנסיות, מסגדים.
שבוע 3 – בנייה בשירות השלטון: בתי המחוקקים בארץ ובעולם.
שבוע 4 – בנייה בשירות החוק: בתי משפט.
שבוע 5 – מדע וטכנולוגיה: מהפנתיאון לפומפידו
שבוע 6 – מבני חינוך והשכלה: בתי ספר ואוניברסיטאות.
שבוע 7 – מגדלים: השאיפה למרומים.
שבוע 8 – סיור בקמפוס (צ'ימבליסטה, פורטר, מוזיאון הטבע).
שבוע 9 – אדריכלות נאצית/פאשיסטית
שבוע 10 – צורות התיישבות: מאוטופיה לעיר
שבוע 11 – מבני תצוגה: ירידים ומוזיאונים
שבוע 12 –שלמת בטון ומלט: בנייה בארץ-ישראל
שבוע 13 – סיכום ודיון בכתיבת עבודת גמר הקורס.
