הרומן בן המאה השש-עשרה "המסע למערב" הוא בעת ובעונה אחת יצירת מופת ספרותית ומקור מרתק לחקר הדת הסינית. בסמינר זה נתרגם פרקים נבחרים מהרומן משפת המקור הסינית לעברית. נדון במאפייניו הספרותיים של הרומן, כמו גם במורכבותן של המסורות הדתיות הסיניות – בודהיזם, דאואיזם, קונפוציאניזם, ודת עממית – הבאות בו לכלל ביטוי.Course description
The sixteenth-century novel Journey to the West is at once a literary masterpiece and a fascinating source for the study of the diverse Chinese religious traditions: Buddhism, Daoism, Confucianism, and the amorphous popular religion. In this seminar we will translate selected chapters of this remarkable novel (from the original Chinese) into Hebrew.
