This course presents the development of humanistic thought, with an emphasis on Philosophy, since antiquity, through the middle ages and the early modern period up to the twentieth century. We shall survey the different disciplines of the humanities, examine the question regarding the scientificality of humanistic thought and discuss the divergence of various branches of knowledge from it.
