D:\Inetpub\shared\yedion\syllabus\06\2014\0625\0625625201_desc.txt סילבוס מקוצר שיעור זה יעסוק במושגים וביצירות שעצבו את התרבות הצרפתית מתקופת ימי הביניים ועד למאה ה17. נעמוד על יחסי הגומלין בין אירועים היסטוריים, שינויים חברתיים ובחירות אסטטיות תוך כדי דיון במושג "קאנון". תחילה נדון בשורשים המדיאבליים של החצרונות ועד גלגוליה המאוחרים בסלונים של המאה ה- 17 וחלקה בעיצוב התרבות הצרפתית המודרנית. הכנסייה ומבקריה תופסים מקום לא פחות מרכזי כמעצבי תרבות. נמחיש זאת באמצעות קריאה מהפטמרון של מרגריט דה נאוורה, פרקים ביצירתו של פרנסואה רבלה והפולמוס בין ישועים לינסניסטים במאה ה17. התפתחות ההומניזם והדרישה לחופש המחשבה, מולידים כבר בסוף המאה ה15 סוגות חדשות כגון זכרונות של אנשי ממשל (הממוארים של פיליפ דה קומין), ומונטיין, לקראת סוף המאה ה16, מטיל במסותיו ספק בעולם הידע שנצבר עד כה וסולל את דרכו של הפילוסוף רנה דקארט. נסיים בהתפתחותה של השפה הצרפתית כשפה לאומית ובחלקם של אנשי הפליאדה בהפיכת ספרותה לספרות לאומית. נוכחות חובה. חובות השיעור : בחינת ביניים20% ובחינה סופית: 60% Course description This course will present concepts and works that conditioned the French culture from the Middle Ages to the 17th century. We will analyze the link between historical events, social changes and esthetic choices as well as discuss the fundamental notion of “canon”. We will focus on the medieval roots of courtship until its late reincarnation within the French Salons of the 17th century and its role in the fashioning of French culture. The Church also played an important cultural role as evidenced by the Heptameron by Marguerite de Navarre and François Rabelais’s novels and the 17th century religious polemic between Jesuits and Jansenists. The development of Humanism and the demands for free thinking generated new genres such as the Memoirs written by statesmen (Commynes) or Montaigne’s Essays, which cast up doubt on the knowledge inherited from Western Culture and prepared the ground for René Descartes’s philosophy. We shall end with a debate on the development of the French language as the language of the nation and the role of the Pleiade group in turning French into a literary language.
