Introduction to microwave components and systems. Noise in microwave systems. Microwave network analysis: reciprocity theorem, impedance, admittance and scattering matrices. Analysis and classification of waveguides. Rectangular waveguide: TE and TM modes, dispersion, and losses. Circular waveguide and high order modes in coaxial cable. Microwave network analysis for waveguides. Analysis of discontinuities in waveguides. Excitation of waveguides. Resonators and perturbation theory. Coupling to resonators. Planar waveguides, stripline, and microstrip.
