Course description
Credit ppoints: 2.5
Prerequisites: Basic Electronics.
Magnetic circuits. Basics of power transmission: Active and reactive power, Power factor, Transmission lines. Transformers: Structure, equivalent scheme, phasor diagram of voltages, currents and powers in a transformer, loss mechanisms and efficiency, voltage regulation. Induction machines: Structure, rotating magnetic field, equivalent scheme, loss mechanisms and efficiency, moment characteristics, starting methods. DC machine: structure, operation in motor and in generator mode, loss mechanisms and efficiency, characteristics in different excitation schemes.
The laboratory experiments include: transformers and power measurements, induction machine, DC machine.
