Course description

Prerequisites: Harmonic Analysis; Introduction to Electrical Circuits and Systems.
Linear systems, time-invariance, causality and stability. Fourier analysis of continuous-time signals: Discrete Fourier Series (DFS) for periodic signals, Fourier Transform (FT) for finite-energy signals. Continuous-time filters, Hilbert transform, the sampling theorem. Fourier analysis of discrete-time signals: Discrete-Time Fourier Transform (DTFT) for finite-energy signals, Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) for periodic signals. Bilateral Laplace- and Z- transforms. Discrete-time digital filters: Finite Implulse Response (FIR), Infinite Impulse Response (IIR), design of FIR Filters, windows. Decimation, interpolation, introduction to multirate signal processing. Fast calculation of the DFT using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Discrete-time Hilbert transform. Introduction to spectral analysis.
