 The seminar seeks to expose participants to theoretical and empirical perspectives on entrepreneurship research. It aims at describing the boundaries of entrepreneurship as a field of study and research. We will focus on foundational issues in current entrepreneurship research and attempt to critically examine the range of methodologies that researchers have used to approach critical questions. Participants will familiarize themselves with dominant perspectives on entrepreneurship, as well as with issues of modeling and researching entrepreneurial concepts and phenomena. As you work in teams on your research project, we will seek to identify promising research areas and examine the process of crafting research papers.

The seminar consists of class as well as group meetings. During the first three sessions of the seminar, we will hold class meetings to discuss general approaches to entrepreneurship research. We will build on required readings (i.e., required reading list specified in this syllabus), which provide the theoretical and conceptual basis for the class session. For each required reading, you may be asked to present your insights to the class. Then, we will revert to instructor-group meetings during which participants will discuss their ideas and progress.on their research project
