Short Course Description

Course Description:
More and more firms understand the connection between higher profitability and environmental management. This may be in terms of efficiency, minimizing risk exposure, corporate branding, or social responsibility rating. During the course the students will learn about key environmental management issues that firms face these days. The course will focus on sustainability strategies and other related topics that help firms realize ?when does it pays to be green?. We will examine different drivers for companies to address environmental issues as well as innovative business models for incorporating environmental concerns in an overall business strategy. We will examine new models such as moving from product t service, green marketing and the use of different metrics and indicators to measure environmental performance. This course will address environmental management issues from a perspective of corporate strategy.

Course Objectives:
Introduce the students to major topics in the field of environmental management in business including various sustainability strategies, reporting and marketing.
At the end of the course students will be able to analyze various activities related to environmental management and distinct between regulatory aspects and beyond compliance actions performed by companies on a voluntary basis.
