Topics: We will discuss the fundamental properties of materials designed for high-temperature applications such as aerospace, advanced engineering materials, nanomaterials, and catalytic materials. These topics include the fundamentals of crystallography and defects at high-temperatures, phase diagrams, thermodynamic and physical properties of refractory metals, mechanics of oxidation, corrosion, erosion, protective coatings, catalytic and surface reactions, ceramics, superalloys, intermetallics and sintering.
